The 2009 Conference Committee is delighted to have Patrick McGaughey, IOM for our keynote address.
Patrick is a consultant to business associations, chambers
of commerce, and private industry across the United States and Canada. His
outstanding successes during his career as a chamber executive, emergency
medical
center operations officer, and 16 year career in radio broadcasting
qualify him to share his expertise and skills with people coast to coast.
As an educator, Pat is a member of the United States Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management faculty at the Universities of Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia, Villanova and Loyola Marymount. Pat facilitates business planning sessions, presents conference keynotes and leads workshops. Pat is acclaimed one of the Top-5 Enter-Trainers in the United States for his ability to help people laugh and learn.
Patrick McGaughey, IOM, has received many civic awards and he has served in various leadership capacities including president of the Northwest Chamber Leaders Conference and president of the Idaho Association of Chambers of Commerce. He is an honored recipient of the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellowship Award and he received the mayoral "Key to The City" for his outstanding community service in The Dalles, Oregon.
Opening Afternoon HOT TOPIC session:
We are pleased to have Gail Ewart, State of Idaho GIO and Cy Smith, State of Oregon GIO facilitate a discussion on statewide geospatial issues. Hot topics for the afternoon include data stewardship, data standards, metadata, and data sharing. An open discussion and facilitated sessions on Idaho’s Geospatial Business and Strategic plan will add to the ‘Layers of Success’ going on in Idaho!
Gail Ewart is the Statewide Geographic Information Officer for the State of Idaho. Gail has provided leadership and key involvement in GIS enterprise deployment, GIS, and data management services since 1994. Previously, Gail worked as Framework Coordinator for Oregon, Gail led base data development and stewardship efforts. Prior to her stint in Oregon, Gail was a member of the predecessor to IGC and served as its chair. Group facilitation, collaborative projects, and implementing innovative solutions are frequent aspects of her positions. Gail has been a private-sector consultant, taught GIS at BSU and was one of the early GIS analysts in Idaho state government. She has a deep background strategic planning and decision support systems.
Gail’s first career as a paralegal has come in handy as a practicing geographer and as a GIS community leader. Gail is a certified GISP, an active member of National States Geospatial Information Council, a member of Women in GIS and state and national URISA, and a principal in the Pacific Northwest Regional GIC. Gail holds a B.A. in English from Boise State University and a M.S. in Geography from the University of Idaho.
Cy Smith is the Statewide GIS Coordinator for the State of Oregon. Cy had been the GIS Manager for the City of Olathe, Kansas for four years, the Kansas State GIS Coordinator for three years, and a GIS consultant for PlanGraphics, Inc. of Frankfort, KY for four years. His technical background is in land ownership mapping. Currently, he represents URISA as chair of the Coalition of Geospatial Organizations (COGO)
Cy has his B.S. in Earth Science from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville. His professional Memberships include: National States Geographic Information Council; Urban Regional Information Systems Association; and Oregon Geographic Information Systems Association.
